- 1). Go to the City of Greensboro's website (see Resources section). Click on the "Businesses" link on the left side of the page. Click on the "Privilege Licenses" link on the Business page.
- 2). Click on "How to get a business privilege license" and read through the page's frequently asked questions. Once you've thoroughly read the requirements, you can apply for a business privilege license online or by mail.
- 3). Complete the application form online and hit the "Send" button, or print a blank business privilege license form and mail it to the City of Greensboro Collections Division.
- 4). Wait seven to 10 days for your application to be processed. Whether you sent your application by mail or online, the city will mail a completed application back to you.
- 5). Sign the completed application, include payment for your license and mail it back to the Collections Division. License fees vary on the type of business you intend to open, and they ranged from $2.50 to $2,500 annually as of November 2010. The city accepts cash, checks, money orders, traveler's checks, cashier checks and official bank checks.
