Sometimes in life you end up in the right place at the right time to catch funny moments. People can say the strangest things and it almost sounds made up. The following contains excerpts from random conversations from several rental clients while I waited for my Mercedes rental car to be ready. I was thoroughly amused and thought this could have been a reality television show.

Situation #1
Male, 30's client: "My girlfriend ended up delivering our baby in the rented Mercedes. Are we responsible for the back seat being stained?"
Mercedes rental clerk: "Well we congratulate you for your new baby but we will need to recoup fees to clean the seats. In your contract the car has to be returned in the same condition it was rented. We aim to deliver the highest customer service possible but will need to send the car out for detailing. At this time we won't know the exact total, but you will be billed for this unfortunately."
Male, 30s client: "I do understand this. Your company has always been great to work with. I just didn't know how this would work since this is a unique situation."

Lesson: Childbirth is not covered by rental car insurance!

Situation #2
Female, with 5 little dogs: "I need a luxury rental to show my ex husband that I'm over him. What do you have that is showy and fast? He left me for our maid. I'd like to show him I don't care anymore."
Mercedes rental clerk: "I'm sorry to hear that. We have luxury SUV's that might be perfect for you and your 5 dogs. It's the Mercedes GL 63 AMG SUV. You won't have to worry about horsepower with 550 hp and if you need towing it has plenty of capacity for a smaller trailer. The SUV is gorgeous and very luxurious.

Lesson: Luxury car rental is great for vengeful behavior.

Situation #3
Male in his 60's: "I'm looking for a car rental for my 30 year old son for his birthday. He's sort of a nerd and needs some help with the ladies. What would you recommend?"
Mercedes rental clerk: "I like the sentiment behind your gesture; however, we would need him to come in to fill out the papers. I'd need his license on file and we would have to run a credit report. He also needs to sign this contract considering he would be the primary driver."

Lesson: Luxury Car rentals can increase confidence.

Situation #4
On the phone question:
Mercedes rental clerk: "I'm sorry did you say the seat stitching clashes with your dress? (Caller talking for a few minutes, then rental clerk continues) Okay we can trade your car in for another one. I'll have a representative meet you where you are in 30 minutes."

Lesson: Always coordinate your Mercedes rental with your outfit.
