Lift the roller frame out of the bucket and rest it on the edge of the bucket so the open side of the frame faces the sky and the bucket's inner lip cradles the neck of the frame. Keep the roller cover hanging over the bucket so excess gas drips back into the bucket. - 6

Hold the handle of the roller firmly in your left hand. Take a putty knife and scrape down the length of the roller from top to bottom. Spin the roller and repeatedly scrape until you have scraped the paint out of every side of the roller. Dip the roller into the gas and slosh it around. Raise it up to set on the bucket's inner lip and scrape it again. Repeat this process until all paint is removed. - 7). Pour a half-gallon of clean gas into another five-gallon bucket.
- 8). Take the roller cover off the roller frame and rinse both pieces in the clean gasoline until clean. Clean paint off the neck sides and spindles of the paint roller with a wire-bristled brush. Place the roller and roller cover on a piece of cardboard and allow both to dry in the open air.
