Gaps Filled by the Current Study
The current study fills a gap because it addresses the potential interactions among QoL, symptom distress, and caregiver strain among African American cancer survivors and their caregivers. Previous research in this area is limited by small sample sizes, differing methodologies, and few studies that address the patient-caregiver dyads. This knowledge is essential in efforts to engage African American survivors in palliative care interventions and to target their caregivers.
