Florida has a number of cities that cater to the gay traveler. In fact, GayTravel.com listed all Florida cities in their list of "Fab Five" travel destinations. The highest-ranked among them is the fashion capital of the South -- Miami/Miami Beach. This area features a number of gay and lesbian clubs, funky restaurants, relaxing beaches and European-inspired boutique hotels. Additionally, this hip city is within driving distance of two other gay-friendly destinations: Ft. Lauderdale and Key West. Each of these cities has flourishing gay communities, and Key West plays host to the infamous "Fantasy Fest." This annual street party is reminiscent of Mardi Gras and encourages gay and lesbian tourism in activities such as drag queen shows and AIDS fund-raisers.

New York City is a melting pot for tourists year-round. With such a diverse community, tolerance is rarely an issue. The city has its own volunteer-run corporation called "Heritage of Pride" that organizes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered pride events such as the annual gay pride parade. Plus, the gay-friendly club spot Fire Island is nearby. Any gay traveler who likes the hustle and bustle of the city will find a numerous amount of gay clubs, entertainment and activities.

In 2010, the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association nominated London as "Best Global Destination," and its leading gay bar Royal Vauxhall Tavern was nominated as the "Best Gay Bar in the World." Between SoHo and the trendy area of Earl's Court, the gay community is thriving and welcomes travelers. With such swanky hot spots, historic buildings from the 11th century, and progressive art and music scenes, international travelers will find much to do.

    São Paulo, Brazil

    • The city of São Paulo is not only the largest city in South America, but it is also the host of the largest pride parade in the world. Travelers must book their tickets in advance to be a part of this spectacle, as the march itself can span almost three miles long. But even you do not plan to visit during the parade-time, São Paulo has a number of attractions and more than 80 gay-friendly places. The city is incredibly diverse and showcases a multitude of people of different races, religions and sexual preferences.
