- 1). Get quotes from car shipping companies at Hauling depot (See Resources). Give the departure city, select Cartagena as the destination port, pick your ship date and enter the type of car you want to ship on the quote request form to get quotes from five shipping companies.
- 2). Choose a shipping company from the quotes received. Take note of the shipping method, which will be container or RORO. The RORO method is typically cheaper.
- 3). Contact the shipping company directly using the information from your quote to ask for a list of references. The shipping company should be able to provide you with a list of previous customers that you can call for a reference.
- 4). Make your shipping reservation and put down your deposit. Typically a partial deposit is required when you make the shipping reservation, which the rest is due the day the car is set to ship out to Cartagena.
- 5). Prepare the car for shipping to Cartagena by making sure that it is clean and that no more than ¼ a tank of gas is in the car. If you are shipping the car via container method and plan on including household items with it, you will need to get those things together for shipping as well.
- 6). Get copies of your passport, your driver's license and proof of ownership for the car. Give these to the shipping company when it's pick up your car for transport. Be sure to get your bill of lading from the shipping company once you give them your car.
